We are delighted that Ivan has been awarded an Emerging Researcher First Grant by the Health Research Council of New Zealand. The project will investigate the links between translation dysregulation and Parkinson’s disease. We thank the reviewers and the HRC Science Assessing Committee for their work and decision.
Ivan gave a Talk on the applications of ligand-based NMR spectroscopy in inhibitor discovery on the 15th of December at the Pacifichem 2015 conference (Symposia: Fragment-based Lead Discovery; Subject Area: Bench to Bedside: Chemistry of Health Care). Pacifichem is one of the largest chemistry conferences, and this year it is attended by over 15,000 delegates. … Read more
Yu and Ivan attended the ANZMAG 2015 conference that was held in Paihia, New Zealand. Ivan was an invited speaker to the conference. He gave a Talk on Monday afternoon on the mechanistic studies of glutathione-dependent formaldehyde activating enzyme (GFA), a piece of work that Ivan has started working on during his post-doc years at Oxford (in collaboration with and … Read more
We had a farewell lunch to celebrate Nasri and Mike completing and obtaining their BSc(Hons) and PGDipSci degrees respectively. Well done on your achievements! We welcome Thomas Hanauer who is joining us as a Visiting Student for eight weeks. Thomas is from the research group of Dr Tobias Gruber at the Technische Universitat Bergakademie Freiberg in Saxony, Germany. Thomas will be investigating the interactions between synthetic macrocycles and small organic molecules that contain the methylammonium motif by using NMR spectroscopy.
We welcome Dona Gunawardana and Danilo Correddu to our Group. Dona is originally from Sri Lanka. She has been living in New Zealand for 8 years and she is joining us as a BSc(Hons) student. Her project will involve structural and biochemical studies of a plant enzyme that is involved in ethylene biosynthesis. Danilo is a native of Italy. He received … Read more
We are delighted to have been awarded a Small Project Grant by the Neurological Foundation of New Zealand for our project on investigating the cause of Parkinson’s disease at a molecular level. We would like to thank the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Neurological Foundation for their decision. Now, the hard work begins! The press release from … Read more
Yu (co-supervised with Professor Paul Kilmartin) delivered a poster presentation titled ‘NMR and Spectroscopic Studies on The Effects of Antioxidants in Polyphenol Oxidation in Wines’ during the School of Chemical Sciences Research Showcase 2015 and Centenary Celebration at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Well done Yu!
We welcome Yu Li, Nasri Rosdi and Renjie Mike Huang to our research group. Yu is a native of China.
