Prospective summer students
Applications for the 2019-20 University of Auckland Summer Research Scholarships is now closed. The summer scholarship scheme is open to both domestic and international students. You can find information about the available projects from the Leung Group (as well as those from the School of Chemical Sciences) via the link here.
Prospective BSc(Hons) or PGDipSci students
Each academic year the Leung Group usually takes up to two BSc(Hons)/PGDipSci students. Prospective BSc(Hons)/PGDipSci students are encouraged to contact Ivan directly to learn more about the research carried out in our group.
Prospective MSc students
Prospective MSc students are encouraged to contact Ivan directly to learn more about the research carried out in our group. Typically, a MSc degree involves full time research for a year. In exceptional circumstances, a two-year MSc option is also available, which involves a taught/coursework component in the 1st year and research in the 2nd year. Information about the MSc programme is available on the University of Auckland website.
Prospective PhD candidates
Prospective PhD students are invited to contact Ivan, preferably with your CV and a brief cover letter explaining why you are interested in chemical biology research. Information about application process and UoA Doctoral Scholarships are available on the University of Auckland website. International students are eligible for the UoA Doctoral Scholarships scheme, although it is highly competitive and typically requires a GPA (or Grade Point Equivalent, GPE) of at least 8.0 out of 9.0 to qualify. Please note that, unless otherwise advertised, we do not usually have any additional PhD studentship/scholarship available.
If you are intending to apply for PhD scholarships from other sources, such as overseas funding agencies or charities, please contact Ivan directly to see if we can endorse and support your application.
Prospective postdoctoral fellows
There is currently no postdoctoral fellowship available.
Enquiries are always welcome from qualified students or postdoctoral scientists if you are applying for your own postdoctoral fellowship. Ivan will provide support with the application process and proposal writing.
